The Origins of the Key Factors for Happiness

How "Life Potential Coaching" reveals the foundations for true happiness.

A decorative key lies on a surface with the word “Happiness”, accompanied by small green branches and leaves.

In the world of coaching, there are many approaches aimed at helping people achieve a fulfilling life. Techniques such as Ikigai and other methods, however, often rely on the false self or ego, which can lead to a sense of dissatisfaction and sometimes even worsen the situation. To avoid these pitfalls, I developed a thorough and precise process of Life Potential Coaching (LPC). Life is too short to get existentially, philosophically, and spiritually lost, so LPC places special emphasis on discovering and nurturing the true self.

Life Potential Coaching is a method designed to help individuals unlock their full potential in various areas of life. The key happiness factors in Life Potential Coaching are based on findings from multiple scientific studies, particularly positive psychology and the Harvard Study of Adult Development.

The Harvard Study of Adult Development

The Harvard Study of Adult Development, one of the longest studies of adult life, has been running for over 80 years. It shows that close, supportive relationships are the strongest predictor of a long and happy life. People with strong social connections are healthier and more satisfied. The study also emphasizes the importance of physical and mental health for well-being. Regular exercise, healthy eating, and effective stress management are crucial for a happy and fulfilling life. Additionally, it highlights that meaningful and fulfilling work contributes to life satisfaction and that financial stability reduces stress and allows for the pursuit of long-term goals.

The Development of Archetypes and the Discovery of the Shadow According to Carl Jung

Carl Gustav Jung, a pioneer of analytical psychology, developed the concept of archetypes as universal, symbolic patterns that exist in the collective unconscious of all people. These archetypes profoundly influence our behavior and perceptions.

  • Archetypes: These universal patterns represent different aspects of the human psyche and reflect fundamental human experiences. They help in understanding and developing various dimensions of personality.

  • The Shadow: Jung also introduced the concept of the shadow, which encompasses the hidden, often unrecognized aspects of our personality that we typically reject or suppress. The shadow contains both negative and positive elements that are not integrated into the conscious mind. Integrating the shadow, that is, acknowledging and accepting these hidden parts, is a central aspect of personal development and self-actualization.

By combining the insights from the Harvard study and Jung's concepts, Life Potential Coaching offers a holistic approach to promoting well-being and life satisfaction. Coaches can help their clients lead more fulfilling and happier lives by applying these fundamental principles and key factors for happiness.
